The Cyalume ChemLight is a yellow army grade chemical light stick measuring six" extended, for providing immediate large intensity 360 degree illumination, that can be noticed up to a mile absent for up to thirty minutes in optimal situations. The ChemLight is water resistant, non-poisonous, and non-flammable. To activate the light stick, bend, snap and shake the tube. The light stick has a hook and gate top, for hanging or attaching the light. The ChemLight meets Defense Logistics Company (DLA) and NATO Routine maintenance and Offer Company (NAMSA) requirements, and National/NATO Stock Numbers (NSN) are printed on each and every solution. Each light stick is individually foil-wrapped for safety from light and moisture, and has up to a two-calendar year shelf existence from date of manufacture.
The durable, water resistant, exterior entire body of the light stick is manufactured from lower density polyethylene (LDPE), and is phthalate cost-free for security. The inner illuminating chemical substance is non-poisonous and non-flammable, and the elements of the light stick are recyclable. The light stick floats in water and functions best among 40 to eighty degrees F (4 to 27 degrees C), and though the light stick functions at increased or reduce temperatures, it is a lot less effective in colder temperatures.
All sticks are examined at a temperature of 72 degrees F (22 degrees C) to establish the illumination duration. Each ten-degree C (fifty-degree F) improve or lessen in temperature doubles or halves the reaction rate, and for that reason the brightness and duration. For instance, the same light stick that emits roughly thirty lux (a unit that describes how much light is visible about a square meter) at fifteen minutes after activation at 24 degrees C (75 degrees F) will be fifty percent as vibrant but glow 2 times as extended at 14 degrees C (57 degrees F). At 34 degrees C (93 degrees F), the same light stick would be 2 times as vibrant, but glow fifty percent as extended. Storage at elevated temperatures (previously mentioned one hundred twenty degrees F or 49 degrees C) will lessen shelf existence and start off to soften the plastic tube, and improve the risk of a leak. Publicity to cold temperatures will not affect the light sticks if they are warmed previously mentioned 40 degrees F (4.five degrees C) just before activation, unless they are frozen (which happens at -fifteen to -twenty degrees F, or -26 to -29 degrees C). When light sticks have been frozen, they will nevertheless make some light, but efficiency will not be as trustworthy. Humidity and atmospheric situations do not affect the light sticks.
Light sticks are chemiluminescent substances in plastic tubes that offer hours of illumination in a quantity of security, industrial, and army purposes. Light sticks are water resistant, non-flammable, and non-sparking, which can make them valuable in hazardous situations in which sparks or flame could trigger an explosion. Duration is decided by the chemistry of the formulation. Brightness is affected by temperature: the warmer the temperature, the brighter the light will look. All sticks are examined at a temperature of 72 degrees F to establish the illumination duration. Viewing distance can be affected by temperature, moisture, and other components. Publicity to immediate daylight can minimize shelf existence and usefulness.
Cyalume Systems manufactures chemiluminescent goods used for security, industrial, and army purposes. The business, launched in 1970 and headquartered in West Springfield, MA, can make goods beneath ChemLight and SnapLight makes. ChemLight goods meet army requirements, and the business meets ISO 9001 specifications.
