The Cyalume ChemLight is a yellow army grade chemical mild stick measuring fifteen" prolonged, for supplying instant 360 diploma illumination, that can be observed up to a mile away for up to 12 hours in ideal problems. The ChemLight is water-proof, non-toxic, and non-flammable. To activate the mild stick, bend, snap and shake the tube. The mild stick has a hook and gate best, for hanging or attaching the mild. The ChemLight meets Protection Logistics Agency (DLA) and NATO Servicing and Provide Agency (NAMSA) specs, and Nationwide/NATO Stock Figures (NSN) are printed on each merchandise. Every single mild stick has up to a 4-year shelf life from date of manufacture.
The durable, water-proof, external entire body of the mild stick is manufactured from lower density polyethylene (LDPE), and is phthalate cost-free for security. The internal illuminating chemical substance is non-toxic and non-flammable, and the parts of the mild stick are recyclable. The mild stick floats in water and performs ideal among 40 to 80 degrees F (four to 27 degrees C), and although the mild stick performs at greater or reduced temperatures, it is significantly less successful in colder temperatures.
All sticks are tested at a temperature of 72 degrees F (22 degrees C) to determine the illumination duration. Every single 10-diploma C (fifty-diploma F) improve or lower in temperature doubles or halves the response rate, and as a result the brightness and duration. For case in point, the same mild stick that emits about 30 lux (a unit that describes how significantly mild is visible more than a square meter) at fifteen minutes after activation at 24 degrees C (75 degrees F) will be fifty percent as bright but glow two times as prolonged at 14 degrees C (57 degrees F). At 34 degrees C (93 degrees F), the same mild stick would be two times as bright, but glow fifty percent as prolonged. Storage at elevated temperatures (above one hundred twenty degrees F or 49 degrees C) will lower shelf life and begin to soften the plastic tube, and improve the chance of a leak. Publicity to cold temperatures will not impact the mild sticks if they are warmed above 40 degrees F (four.5 degrees C) prior to activation, until they are frozen (which occurs at -fifteen to -20 degrees F, or -26 to -29 degrees C). Once mild sticks have been frozen, they will nevertheless create some mild, but performance will not be as reliable. Humidity and atmospheric problems do not impact the mild sticks.
Mild sticks are chemiluminescent substances in plastic tubes that provide hours of illumination in a number of security, industrial, and army purposes. Mild sticks are water-proof, non-flammable, and non-sparking, which makes them useful in hazardous conditions where sparks or flame could lead to an explosion. Length is identified by the chemistry of the formulation. Brightness is afflicted by temperature: the hotter the temperature, the brighter the mild will seem. All sticks are tested at a temperature of 72 degrees F to determine the illumination duration. Viewing length can be afflicted by temperature, moisture, and other factors. Publicity to immediate daylight can lessen shelf life and effectiveness.
Cyalume Systems manufactures chemiluminescent items used for security, industrial, and army purposes. The firm, founded in 1970 and headquartered in West Springfield, MA, makes items underneath ChemLight and SnapLight brand names. ChemLight items meet army specs, and the firm meets ISO 9001 expectations.
