The Cyalume ChemLight is a red army grade chemical light stick measuring 6" lengthy, for providing immediate 360 diploma illumination, that can be noticed up to a mile absent for up to 12 hrs in ideal problems. The ChemLight is water-proof, non-toxic, and non-flammable. To activate the light stick, bend, snap and shake the tube. The light stick has a hook and gate best, for hanging or attaching the light. The ChemLight meets Protection Logistics Company (DLA) and NATO Upkeep and Supply Company (NAMSA) specifications, and National/NATO Stock Figures (NSN) are printed on each and every item. Every single light stick is individually foil-wrapped for safety from light and moisture, and has up to a four-12 months shelf daily life from date of manufacture.
The durable, water-proof, exterior body of the light stick is created from lower density polyethylene (LDPE), and is phthalate free for basic safety. The inner illuminating chemical substance is non-toxic and non-flammable, and the components of the light stick are recyclable. The light stick floats in water and functions best in between 40 to 80 degrees F (4 to 27 degrees C), and even though the light stick functions at larger or reduce temperatures, it is much less powerful in colder temperatures.
All sticks are tested at a temperature of 72 degrees F (22 degrees C) to establish the illumination duration. Every single 10-diploma C (fifty-diploma F) increase or lower in temperature doubles or halves the response charge, and therefore the brightness and duration. For illustration, the identical light stick that emits around 30 lux (a unit that describes how significantly light is visible about a sq. meter) at fifteen minutes after activation at 24 degrees C (75 degrees F) will be half as brilliant but glow twice as lengthy at 14 degrees C (57 degrees F). At 34 degrees C (93 degrees F), the identical light stick would be twice as brilliant, but glow half as lengthy. Storage at elevated temperatures (above 120 degrees F or 49 degrees C) will lower shelf daily life and start to soften the plastic tube, and increase the danger of a leak. Publicity to cold temperatures will not influence the light sticks if they are warmed above 40 degrees F (4.five degrees C) prior to activation, unless of course they are frozen (which occurs at -fifteen to -20 degrees F, or -26 to -29 degrees C). As soon as light sticks have been frozen, they will still produce some light, but performance will not be as reputable. Humidity and atmospheric problems do not influence the light sticks.
Mild sticks are chemiluminescent substances in plastic tubes that supply hrs of illumination in a range of basic safety, industrial, and army apps. Mild sticks are water-proof, non-flammable, and non-sparking, which makes them helpful in hazardous conditions in which sparks or flame could lead to an explosion. Length is determined by the chemistry of the formulation. Brightness is afflicted by temperature: the warmer the temperature, the brighter the light will seem. All sticks are tested at a temperature of 72 degrees F to establish the illumination duration. Viewing length can be afflicted by temperature, moisture, and other aspects. Publicity to direct sunlight can minimize shelf daily life and usefulness.
Cyalume Systems manufactures chemiluminescent goods employed for basic safety, industrial, and army apps. The firm, launched in 1970 and headquartered in West Springfield, MA, makes goods under ChemLight and SnapLight brand names. ChemLight goods meet army specifications, and the firm meets ISO 9001 expectations.
